Amazon Company to Expand to Argentina
Amazon’s expansion plans in Latin America will not be limited to the Brazilian market. Argentina, which has one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets in the region, is also in the sights of the Seattle firm.
A source close to Amazon’s operations in the region confirmed that, as a result of the expansion and success of the company in Brazil, a branch would be opened in Argentina, although at first it will only operate as administrative and commercial headquarters.
As of now, there are no more details regarding the expansion, but if confirmed the information would mean a real shakeup of the Argentine online market, which at the moment is comfortably dominated by Mercado Libre. The landing of a firm like Amazon would radically change the rules of the game and would be an important boon to the economy of Argentina.
