BAFICI, the annual Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival, is almost here! The 15th edition of this exciting annual cultural event will open on Wednesday, April 10th. More than 400 films and shorts will be featured at this year´s festival, including premiers, retrospectives, and discussions on film and music programs. The 2013 lineup includes the competition films of course, and other thematic or highlighted sections:

Music: This is the screening section for documentaries about musicians, bands, and music in general. This year you can catch a screenings of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd Documentaries at the Planetarium.

Panorama: This international section features mainly independent A-liners and festival big hits. This year will feature Like Someone in Love by famous Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, as well as Centro Historico, a film about Portugal directed by Aki Kaurismäki, Pedro Costa, Victor Erice, and Manoel de Oliveira.

Trapero X 3: This is the Argentine film category. Come check out short films and videos by Pablo Trapero, a famous and influential Argentinian director.

Vanguardia & Genero- Retro: This is the festival´s debut of a collection of classic films, featuring directors such John Hughs, Martin Scorcese, Peter Bogdanovich and David Cronenberg.

Retrospectives: This year you can enjoy a selection of retrospective films such as a collection of Austrian vanguard films, an assortment of films by Argentine director Adolfo Aristarain, as well as screenings from Korean Hong Sansoo, Swiss Erich Langjhar’s films and Brazilian Julio Bressane. Also included will be Chileans Ernesto Diaz Espinosa and Ignacio Aguero.

BAFICI + FIPRESCI * 5 This section is strictly for Argentine films, for example Mundo Grua by Pablo Trapero, Tan De Repente by Diego Lerman and Silvia Prieto by Martin Rejtman. These films were all part of the wave of new Argentine Film in the 90s.

Britania Lado B- LUX: Here you will find British short films featured. All arrive on behalf of international art gallery LUX and highlights films and video art by Duncan Campbell, Redmond Entwhistle and Vivienne Dick, among others.

Cineastas de Nuestros Tiempos: This section is dedicated to documentaries about renowned filmmakers such as David Lynch, Cassavetes, Jean Vigo and Scorsese.

You can also enjoy a special selection of children´s films, as well as outdoor and Planetarium screenings throughout the week of the festival.
