The Tourism Minister of the Nation, Enrique Meyer, asserted that "Argentina is the heart" of the Rally Dakar that ended up in Lima, Peru, after leaving from the coastal city of Mar del Plata in January, 1.
Meyer also confirmed that the rally "will go through the country in 2013 and it will be launched from Buenos Aires in 2014 again."
Meyer attended the closing ceremony of the Rally Dakar 2012 in Lima and shared the prizes handing over with the President of Peru, Ollanta Humala, in a crowded Plaza de Armas, which in the last stage, gathered in the path to the Peruvian capital, about 800 thousand spectators, according to estimates of the competition director, the French Etienne Lavigne.
