Tourism Minister, Enrique Meyer, has announced a tourism recovery plan for Bariloche which will consist of an increase in flight frequencies and discounts for tourists who visit this city in the Province in Rio Negro that was affected by the ashes from the Puyehue volcano in mid 2011.
The Minister stated in a press conference held at Alvear Hotel that they will improve "the positioning of Bariloche as a result of the creation of awareness, the increase in flights, especially on the part of Aerolíneas and LAN, and special prices" for tourists.
With different activities, this plan "turns over a new leaf for Bariloche, in the lake region", said Meyer after emphasizing "Bariloche is on its feet".
Present at the launch of Bariloche’s tourism recovery, were Rio Negro Governor, Alberto Weretilneck, the president of Aerolíneas Argentinas, Mariano Recalde, and other local authorities.
Recalde pointed out that one of the proposals to recover tourism in the region is "to continue increasing direct flights to Bariloche as we have been doing since January, 13th". As regards tolls, accommodation and tourist packages, Recalde said "there are special offers in Brazil to attract those tourists who are the ones that inject the most money into Argentina".
